Designated Standard Maintenance Organization

The term 'Designated Standard Maintenance Organization ' as it applies to the area of Medicare in the United States can be defined as ' An organization, designated by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, to maintain standards adopted under Subpart I of 45 CFR Part 162. A DSMO may receive and process requests for adopting a new standard or modifying an adopted standard'.
